Cuddle Season, the Best Time of the Year!
In Colorado, it can get pretty cold at night, especially in the late fall, winter, and early spring. My family lives in an older, drafty house, so we use space heaters in certain areas to keep the furry kids warm and content. Many evenings are spent with the two-leggeds, sitting on the couch, watching the four-leggeds stretch out on the floor in front of the heater getting toasty. The problem comes when it’s time for bed and, for safety reasons, we have to turn the small heaters off. Where can the dogs and cats go to sleep through the night comfortably? The bedroom of course! In my family, we believe in letting the dogs sleep on our bed. It makes them happy and warm. It allows us humans to feel that special feeling that you get when a dog chooses to be close to you. We have named this special time of year, cuddle season.

With the first cold snap of fall, cuddle season begins, and the dogs and cats leave their soft pet beds to purr and snore the night away with their humans. Last winter, when our family expanded, there wasn’t enough room for everyone in bed. My husband and I decided that it was time to upgrade. Now we have a California King, with enough memory foam that if a dog is making a nest or running in his sleep, the rest of the bed doesn’t move. We placed small soft blankets on top of the comforter for the fur-kids to use at their leisure. Our fur-family is not spoiled at all. *wink*
So if you are one of those who love the magic of cuddle season, don’t be embarrassed. You are not alone in your love of cuddling your fur-babies, and most certainly not alone at bed time.
